Taipei Restaurant

I was never a big fan of Little Szechuan because they always had musical chefs and the food was retardedly inconsistent. Since, it was on Buford Hwy, the roundeyes loved it and thought it was authentic, suckaz. Meh.

Fast forward through the years of the Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig and Rat... Comes Taipei, a Taiwanese joint that opened and closed late last year as quickly as I.N.S. deports smuggled in FOBs. Then it quietly opened again... Who woulda thunk it with all the newspapers taped up all over the windows. But if you looked closer, it was articles all about Little Szechuan from years past. WTF? Asian marketing ingenuity at it's best. No wonder the joint was empty. You shoulda seen the smile on their faces when our tribe came in with empty stomachs. The owner and chef from the old Little Szechuan is now running this shindig.

Now, to the redekulus amount of food had in our culinary party...

-Taipei sausage w/ slices of garlic.
-Wonton in hot oil.
-Szechuan sliced 'prok' ears.
-House Szechuan cold noodles (aka Dan Dan noodles).
-Slices of 'prok' w. garlic sauce.
-Crunch jelly fish.
-Beef flank hot pot.
-Pan fried egg w/ shwimp.
-Tea flavor duck.
-Sizzling intestines in Szechuan sauce.
-Braised meat balls in hot pot.
-Cured 'prok', duck leg & sausage.
-Sauteed eggplant w/ basil.
-Chinese zucchini (okra) w/ crab meat sauce.
-Sauteed "A" vegetable.
-House special tofu w/ shredded 'prok' in black bean sauce.
-Noodles topped w/ ground 'prok' & Szechuan sauce (aka Zha Jiang Mien)

After that boatload of FOB-liciousness... We all sat there in silence with pouches at maximum expansion and the occasional moan and heavy panting. Everything was tastee but nothing exceptional... But remember, we stayed away from the standard Szechuan dishes, mebbe that was the mistake. Being adventurous has it's price. Who knows, there's always a next time if they don't get deported.
