Pouch and the City

The Pouch got around the city more in a few days than Samantha Jones does in a whole year. What a whore. No, not her, me... I did some obscene rogering to the pouch. When I'm back in my hometown, everything is fair game. My hit list was endless, so here's some of the poontang the pouch slayed. Get ready for one helluva ride...

Ssam Bar.
Fried duck wings – pineapple, cilantro, pepitas. There's also chocolate pieces in there, fucking sick!

Seven spice lamb ssäm – ssam sauce, daikon, thai basil. This Korecan style burrito was tasty.

Duck dumpling pho - kohlrabi, shiitake, ramp. How can duck dumps taste so good? There's also a ton of shiitake in there, too.

Milk Bar.
Compost Cookie. This has everything that you can think of in there.

Bassanova Ramen.
Green Curry Soup, their signature Thai-style spiced coconut and pork broth with Sun Noodles, of course.

Tondaku Ramen, a tonkotsu-style ramen with Sun Noodles again. This was better than their green curry soup.

Kung Fu Little Steamed Buns Ramen.
Soup Dumps and Cheekan Ramen. This place is in tourist central and I can't understand why the food is so goddamn good. The soup dumps were full of soup inside and the skin was perfectly thin and did not break at all. The ramen broth was intensely flavorful for such a light color, the chicken was incredibly tender and the hand pulled noodles were spot on. I still can't understand this place. Bizarro world.

The pouch is baffled how good this place is. Is this place only visible to Asians? Not a single cracker in sight up in this piece.

Ed's Lobster Bar.
This used to be my favorite lobster roll but they have gotten smaller in size while the price increased to $30... Fuck that noise. Last time motherfuckers. Ok, it was still good.

 Sake Bar Decibel.
This underground sake dive has been around since 1993. Haven't been back in awhile, still the same and a helluva good time.

Taiyaki - This fish shaped thinger is like a waffle stuffed with sweet red bean paste.

Black Seed.
This is the new hipster bagel shop.

They are pretty damn good bagels.

Fish.
Fried Clams with bellies! $15 for this tasty giant size appetizer.

Get this... 6 raw oysters or clams plus a house wine or PBR for $9! I'll have two, pweez.

Katz's Deli.
Real Egg Cream and Pickles. The best Jerry, the best.

Matzo Ball Soup. One big ball to match mine.

 Cheekan Noodle Soup.

Pastrami. The original and the best.

 Corned Beef.

Keste.
Keste. That is a good pie.

 Materdei. Flat pressed panini.

Marinara Gluten Free. Thought it would taste like shit, but it was halfway edible but not again.

McSorley's.
I remember when your mom posed for this shot.

Light and Dark. May the force be with you and your bladder.

Pulqueria.
One of my favorite underground joints in the city. Very respectable Latin food... Just barely bordering on Mexican't. The bar and night life scene here is why you stay after dinner.

Caipirinha and Horchata.

Parm.
Italian Combo. A decent hero but just a bit too much of lettuce and oh, there's that $15 price tag, too.

Glamour shot of it's innards. It's a standard size hero, not terribly exciting, stick with their meatball sub, it's sick.

Pies -N- Thighs.
Fried Chicken Box. This is a pretty good fried chicken, crispy thin skin and juicy inside.

Big Gay Ice Cream.
Always gotta stop by and suck on some of their tasty junk.

Luzzo's.
Their 'ZAs are usually pretty darn tasty but this specimen had to be exposed for mankind and the children... Really, the children lurv this shit pie.

Shanghai Gourmet.
Pork and winter melon soup.

Soup dumps. Damn good dumps, plenty of soup inside and perfect skin thickness.

String beans with pork. Mama said eat your veggies.

Fish with Sichuan chili sauce. Lurv me some spicy fish, but it wasn't spicy enough. Something might be wrong with me... No, I know so.

 Golden Sand Seafood.
Shrimp cheong fun, always tasty.

Wu gok, not as flaky and super greasy on the bottom.

Har gao, decent but they stuck together.

Pan fried dumps stuffed with chives and veggies.

Intestines, shumai, steamed pork dump.

Chicken steamed buns, you don't see these often, most of the time it's BBQ pork.

 Tripe.

Hop Shing.
Giant fried oysters, this place has been making these for decades, still yummy.

Squid and sour mustard rice plate.

Simply shrimp, egg and tomato rice plate.

 Nam Wah Tea Parlor.
This is one of the oldest dim sum spot in Chinatown but it has become a major tourist stop and the food is just ok.

 Sticky rice with Chinese sausage.

Fried tofu roll stuffed with veggies, super greasy.

Cilantro and chive cheong fun, only a couple of places does this in Chinatown.

Dana's Bakery.
Macaron. Orange creamsicle, red velvet, thin mint, key lime pie. I will not lie, I ate these and liked it.

Slaying beasts in this city is a tough job, no one can do it alone in a week, especially the pouch... It needs at least 3 weeks to eat everything in this city. I would be in big trouble if I still lived here. Time to hibernate.
