One of the best kept secrets to 'fine' dining in NYC is found at the adorable Morimoto in Chelsea. The shit here is not cheap usually but if you come for lunch, it's a steal for their lunch sets that most runs under $28. Yes, twenty-mother-fucking-eight dollars, holla! Even though my family was with me, I ate at least half of their lunch sets... I am so fucking fat, it's like an endless marsupial pouch abyss. But wait, sooshee is good for you... So, it's ok to eat more of it.
Bop Rice Bowl with eel, foie gras and avocado. Mash it all up in the hot stone bowl and you got yourself a sweet bowl of crap. It's almost a crime to mash up foie, so eat that first.
Sashimi Set. Comes with salad, pickles, rice, miso soup, miso green beans and all for $28. How can this be in NYC and at Morimoto? Who cares... I'm on it like a fatty on a Twinkie.
Morimoto Style Chirashi Set. This chirashi was pretty impressive. The bowl was stuffed with a lot of goodies.
Sushi Combo Set. This was a really nice set up and a nice selection of fish.
How do not more people know about this lunch deal sitting right next to Chelsea Market aka super tourist central. The food joints inside CM are decent but they are such a rip off, especially, the Lobster Place... Where one cooked lobster is about $85. I guess if it's not on their tour guide, they just don't know any better... Sometimes, it pays off to walk in and take a peek.
